Indian Weightlifters Shine in Common Wealth Games 2022

So far, Indian athletes have won four medals, a gold, two silvers and a bronze, at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Sanket Sargar the first Indian to win a medal in Birmingham. He won  silver in the men's 55kg weightlifting event.

21-year-old from Sangli district,Maharshtra won the silver medal in the men's 55 kg category on Saturday.

Gururaja Poojary won a bronze medal in the men's 61kg category. India's second medal after Sanket Sargar won 1st medal for India.

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won first gold medal for India in Women's 49kg category.

Mirabai Chanu defended her Commonwealth gold with a record-breaking total of 201kg (88kg and113kg)

Bindyarani Devi won a silver in the women's 55kg category. This is India's fourth weightlifting medal

 Bindyarani Devi created a Games record by lifting 116kg in the clean and jerk after a personal best of 86kg in the snatch section, totalling 202 kg
