Neeraj Chopra Wins India first-ever Silver medal in World Athletics Championships

Neeraj Chopra's throw of 88.13m in his fourth attempt secured him silver medal in World Athletics Championships. 

This is India'a first-ever silver in World Athletics Championships and second Indian to win a medal

Long jumper Anju Bobby George was the first Indian to win a medal (bronze) in the World Championships in the 2003 in Paris.

Grenada's Anderson Peters won the gold medal with a best throw of 90.54m and Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch won bronze with a best throw of 88.09m.

Neeraj Chopra started with a foul throw and then registered 82.39m with his second attempt. 

In third attempt he managed threw the javelin 86.37m and in fourth attempt he registered a throw of 88.13m to move into second place from fourth.

His fifth and sixth attempts were foul throws.

Neeraj Chopra had won maiden gold in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
